Another Successful Golden Gate Festival Wraps Up After a Spectacular Week

The Golden Gate International Children’s and Youth Choral Festival, hosted every three years by the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir in Berkeley, California, recently wrapped up after a spectacular week of events. Longtime friends of ACFEA, the Columbia Choirs from Redmond, WA, directed by Steve Stevens, took part and had a great showing, including gold ratings in the Youth Folk Competition for the SATB Columbia Vocal Ensemble and in the Children’s Historical Competition and Children’s Folk Competition for the treble Columbia Children’s Choir.

Golden Gate attracts choirs from all over the world to the Bay Area to work with renowned conductors. This year’s festival included Maria Guinand of Venezuela and Stephen Leek of Australia. This year’s participants included choirs from China, Canada, Indonesia, the Democratic Republic of Georgia, Honduras, Germany, Denmark, Austria, Australia, Lithuania and the United States.

The next festival will be held in July, 2015.
