Hugh Davies, President of ACFEA North America, has been with the organization since 1986. Before that, he was a high school music teacher in Australia, and prior to that a professional singer, based in London. Born in England, he started his 53-year singing career as a boy chorister in St Albans Cathedral and went on to sing with such ensembles as King’s College Choir, the Monteverdi Choir, Glyndebourne Opera, the BBC Singers, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Theatre of Voices, and American Bach Soloists, before retiring from singing in 2017. He served on the board of Chorus America for 12 years, and has been on the board of American Bach Soloists since 2005, including several terms as President. He lives in the San Francisco area with his musician wife and prima donna daughter.
