"The first real impression touring made on me was when I was 13 and went to Russia with the St. Louis Children's Choirs. We gave a concert at the Moscow Conservatory and performed with orchestras in halls up and down the Volga. What I remember most was driving to the middle of the woods and hanging out with a bunch of kids at their summer camp! Their piano didn't have strings and the roof leaked, but getting to connect with the Russian kids really showed me how powerful traveling can be. I love how these experiences can happen in the most unexpected places. It's still important to go to the big cities and perform in their big halls - audiences are great there, too! Just don't forget to stop at the small towns in between and say hello."
